On December 4, 2021, the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) of Tsinghua University, in collaboration with the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD), held a thematic session themed “AI and International Security” during the International AI Cooperation and Governance Forum 2021.

The Global Town Hall with the theme “Managing Competition, Conflict, and Cooperation in a Pandemic World” took place on November 20-21, 2021.

On November 17, 2021, Da Wei, Deputy Director of the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) and Professor of International Relations at Tsinghua University, participated in a virtual seminar on “Dangers of a US-China Military Conflict” hosted by the Institute of Chinese Studies, Delhi (ICS).

On November 13 and 14, 2021, the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) of Tsinghua University and the SEJONG Institute jointly organized the Korea-US-China Security Dialogue 2021: US-China Relations in the Post-Pandemic Era.

On October 8, the Sino-American Youth Dialogue on Climate Change was held at Tsinghua University. The Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) participated in the planning and organizing of the event, with its Deputy Directors DA Wei and XIAO Qian attending the event. Professor Da was also invited to give comments on the roundtable discussions.

On August 23, Tsinghua University’s Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS), together with the Academy of Contemporary China and the World Studies (ACCWS) and the Beijing Service Bureau for Diplomatic Missions, jointly launched a series of Ambassador Roundtables in the Xianhe Hall at the Beijing International Club. The first roundtable focused on climate change and China-Europe cooperation.

On August 13, 2021, Tsinghua University’s Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) together with the Stimson Center, hosted a virtual seminar entitled “China, the US, and the Future of Afghanistan.” Chinese panelists included DA Wei, Deputy Director of CISS; ZHOU Bo, CISS Fellow and China Forum Expert; QIAN Feng

On February 26, 2021, LI Chen attended virtually the 2nd Tokyo Global Dialogue hosted by the Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA). LI is a Research Fellow at the Center for International Security and Strategy, Tsinghua University (CISS), and an associate professor at the School of International Studies, Renmin University of China. He spoke at the session on “US-China Military Balance and Prospects for Arms Control” at the round of “Thematic Analysis”. The session was moderated by Professor Satoru Mori from Hosei University, Japan, and featured presentations by Izumi Nakamitsu, UN Under-Secretary-General for Disarmament Affairs, and Ralph Schriver, former US Assistant Secretary of Defense for Indo-Pacific Security Affairs and Chairman at the Project 2049 Institute.

On February 25, 2021, CISS and Stimson Center jointly held a virtual seminar themed “China-US Relations in Biden's First Month”. Those in attendance include CISS Senior Fellow Da Wei, Adjunct Fellow An Gang, Zhao Minghao and Li Chen, and Sun Yun, Co-Director of the East Asia Program at Stimson Center, as well as six American scholars from other major think tanks and universities in Washington.

From February 4 to 6, 2021, experts at the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS), Tsinghua University, attended the Northeast Asia Cooperation Dialogue and Defense Information Sharing Meeting at the invitation of their host, the University of California Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation (IGCC). CISS participants included its Academic Committee member YAO Yunzhu, Senior Fellow and China Forum expert ZHOU Bo, and Research Fellow LI Chen.

On December 18, 2020, the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS), Tsinghua University organized a thematic session of Tsinghua University International AI Cooperation and Governance Forum 2020 titled “AI and International Security: Challenges and Opportunities.” The session highlighted the preliminary outcomes of AI and International Security, a joint research project between CISS and the Brookings Institution which is supported by the Berggruen Institute and the Minderoo Foundation.

On December 10, 2020, the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS), Tsinghua University and the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS) co-hosted a seminar titled “U.S.-China Relations: A Look Ahead.”
