On May 18, 2026, the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University hosted the 99th session of its Strategic and Security Forum, titled “Frontier AI Risks and Governance: Space for China-U.S. Cooperation.” The seminar was moderated by Xiao Qian, Deputy Director of CISS, and brought together more than ten experts and scholars from institutions including Tsinghua University, the National Defense University of the People's Liberation Army, Beijing Normal University, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, and the Overseas Policy Research Center of the Alibaba Research Institute.

On September 16, 2025, the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University convened the 95th session of the Strategic and Security Seminar, titled “The Development and Challenges of Intelligent Unmanned Technology Applications.” The seminar was chaired by Xiao Qian, Deputy Director of CISS and Deputy Director of the Institute for AI International Governance.

On May 28, 2025, the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University held the 20th session of the CISS StratFocus Forum, themed “Observing Trends in U.S. Technology Strategy under Trump 2.0.” The keynote speaker was Dr. Tang Xinhua, Associate Research Fellow at the Institute of International Relations, Tsinghua University. Commentators included Dr. Jiang Tianjiao, Associate Professor at the Fudan Institute of Development Studies, and Mr. Gu Dengchen, Director of the Policy and Regulation Research Center at the Ali Research Institute. The forum was moderated by Dr. Xiao Qian, Deputy Director of CISS.

On the morning of May 22, the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University successfully held the 91st Security and Strategy Seminar, focusing on “Maritime Security and Trans-Pacific Shipping Cooperation.” The seminar was co-organized with the National Strategy Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and was moderated by Dr. Dong Ting, Associate Research Fellow at CISS. Scholars and experts from 16 institutions—including Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, Shanghai Maritime University, Dalian Maritime University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, as well as enterprises and analytical organizations from Beijing, Guangzhou, and Ningbo—joined the discussions.

On the morning of May 6, the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University held the 90th session of its Security and Strategy Seminar, themed “Assessing and Responding to the Current State of China-U.S. Relations.”

On the afternoon of June 13, the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) of Tsinghua University and the Institute for Taiwan Studies of Tsinghua University co-organized the 84th Security and Strategy Seminar on “China-EU Relations and European Trends Toward Taiwan.”

On April 23, CISS Youth was invited to visit Schwarzman College to hold the 2nd youth dialogue with current Schwarzman scholars. Continuing the spirit of frankness, openness, and inclusiveness of the first youth dialogue in December 2023, the two sides discussed US foreign policy and its impact on China-US relations, aiming to enhance the understanding of international relations through academic exchanges and dialogues among the young scholars, especially the perception of changes and challenges of China-US relations in the current global political and economic situation. The dialogue was moderated by Sun Chenghao, Fellow of CISS, and Andrew Bilden, Scholar from Schwarzman College.

On the afternoon of April 11, the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) of Tsinghua University held the 82nd Security and Strategy Seminar on “Capacity Building and International Cooperation on Artificial Intelligence.” Moderated by Xiao Qian, Deputy Director of CISS and Vice Dean of the Institute for AI International Governance (I-AIIG) of Tsinghua University, the Seminar invited experts from universities, research institutes, and enterprises, including the National University of Defense Technology (NUDT), Peking University, China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL), China People’s Liberation Army National Defense University, Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS), China Mobile Research Institute, Alibaba Group, and SenseTime, to have in-depth discussions on the topics, such as how to enhance AI capacity building and how to strengthen international cooperation and exchange in the field of AI governance.

Given the increasing influence of countries like China and the rapid economic growth of several Southeast Asian nations, the U.S. strategy in this region has far-reaching implications for regional stability and security. On the morning of September 10, the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) of Tsinghua University and the Institute for AI International Governance (I-AIIG) of Tsinghua University co-organized the 75th session of the Forum on Security and Strategy – Seminar on “Global AI Governance and Cooperation.”

On August 22, the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS), Tsinghua University received a visit from the research team on international governance of cyberspace of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (SASS) and held the 74th session of the Forum on Security and Strategy – Seminar on “The Science and Technology Competition and Investment Review of the U.S.”

On June 12, 2023, the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University hosted a visit from a delegation led by Chen Dongxiao, President of the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS), and held the 69th Security and Strategy Seminar on the topic of “International Communication of Think Tanks: Mission and Path”.

On June 1, the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) of Tsinghua University held the 67th Security and Strategy Seminar themed “The International Environment and China’s Diplomacy in the Next Five to Ten Years.” More than a dozen of experts and scholars from Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China (RUC), Fudan University (FDU), China Institute of International Studies (CIIS), China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR), Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), Party History Research Center of the CPC Central Committee (PHRC), and other institutes were invited for discussions and exchanges. Professor Da Wei, Director of CISS, moderated the event where participating experts assessed the international landscape in the next five to ten years based on the current global pictures and hotspot issues, and conducted in-depth discussions on China’s diplomatic philosophy and framework under new circumstances.
