The forum was moderated by Sun Chenghao, Fellow at CISS. Sun Bingyan, Assistant Professor in the Department of International Politics at the School of International Studies, Renmin University of China, delivered the keynote presentation. Li Meiying, Associate Professor at the National Defense University, and Zhang Tengjun, Fellow at the Institute of American Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), joined the discussion as panelists.

​On May 19, 2026, the 2026 Spring Tsinghua-Georgetown Undergraduate Dialogue concluded successfully. The event was co-hosted by the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University and the Georgetown University Initiative for U.S.-China Dialogue on Global Issues.

The Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University held the 26th session of “CISS StratFocus” on April 27, 2026, under the theme “Biosecurity Governance in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.” The forum was moderated by CISS Senior Fellow Dong Ting and featured Bao Yuhan, Lecturer at the School of International Organizations of Beijing Foreign Studies University, as the keynote speaker.

The Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University held the 25th session of “CISS StratFocus” on April 15, 2026, under the theme “Institutional Competition and Order Reconstruction in the Middle East.” The forum was moderated by Wen Jing, Postdoctoral Fellow at CISS. Duan Jiuzhou, Assistant Researcher at the Institute of International and Area Studies of Tsinghua University, was invited as the keynote speaker. Zhu Quangang, Associate Research Fellow at the Department of Political Studies of the Institute of West Asian and African Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Wu Shiyao, Lecturer at the School of International Relations of the University of International Business and Economics, participated in the discussion as guest commentators.

On December 24, 2025, the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) successfully hosted the 24th CISS StratFocus Forum, themed “U.S.-Europe-Russia Dynamics in the Era of Autonomous Competition”. The forum was moderated by Song Bo, Assistant Fellow at CISS. Gu Wei, Director and Research Fellow of the Eurasian Studies Division at the Institute of International Relations of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, delivered the keynote address. Discussants included Kang Jie, Associate Research Fellow at the Institute of American Studies, China Institute of International Studies; Chen Yu, Deputy Director and Associate Research Fellow at the Institute of Eurasian Studies, China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations; and Shi Jing, Assistant Research Fellow at the Institute of International and Regional Studies, Tsinghua University.

On October 31, 2025, the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University held the 23rd session of its CISS StratFocus, focusing on the theme “Assessing the Strategic Capacity of Trump 2.0.” The keynote speaker was Dr. Zhang Yifei, Associate Research Fellow at the Institute of American Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). The discussants were Dr. Xu Ruoji, Associate Research Fellow at the Institute of European Studies, CASS, and Dr. Gong Ting, Deputy Director and Associate Research Fellow at the Institute of International Strategy, China Institute of International Studies (CIIS). On September 26, 2025, the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University held The 22nd CISS StratFocus Forum with the theme “Central Europe in Geopolitical Perspective.” The keynote speaker was Dr. Kong Yuan, Associate Research Fellow at the Institute of European Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. The discussants included Dr. Wang Hongyi, Associate Professor at the School of European Languages and Cultures, Beijing Foreign Studies University, and Dr. Ning Ya, Lecturer at the School of History, Renmin University of China. The forum was moderated by Shi Yan, Assistant Research Fellow at CISS.

On June 19, 2025, the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University held the 21st session of CISS StratFocus Forum, titled “The World Through the Lens of the Trump MAGA Movement and the Prospects for U.S.-China Relations.” The keynote speaker was Zhao Hai, Director of the Department of International Politics at the National Institute for Global Strategy, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). The discussants included Lei Shaohua, Deputy Chair of the Department of International Organizations and International Public Policy at Peking University, and Huang Yutao, Assistant Research Fellow at the Institute of World Economics and Politics, CASS, and Secretary-General of its Center for Development Studies. The seminar was moderated by Sun Chenghao, Associate Research Fellow at CISS.

On May 28, 2025, the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University held the 20th session of the CISS StratFocus Forum, themed “Observing Trends in U.S. Technology Strategy under Trump 2.0.” The keynote speaker was Dr. Tang Xinhua, Associate Research Fellow at the Institute of International Relations, Tsinghua University. Commentators included Dr. Jiang Tianjiao, Associate Professor at the Fudan Institute of Development Studies, and Mr. Gu Dengchen, Director of the Policy and Regulation Research Center at the Ali Research Institute. The forum was moderated by Dr. Xiao Qian, Deputy Director of CISS.

On April 18, 2025, the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University hosted the 19th StratFocus Forum, themed “Geopolitical Experiments in the Eurasian Transition Zone: Field Observations from Nagorno-Karabakh.” The forum featured Assistant Researcher SHI Jing from Tsinghua’s Institute of International and Area Studies, who shared insights from his field investigations in Nagorno-Karabakh, discussing the conflict’s impact and strategic adjustments by involved parties and neighboring countries in the new geopolitical reality. Discussants included YANG Jin, Deputy Director and Associate Researcher at the Institute of Russian, Eastern European, and Central Asian Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and SHE Gangzheng, Associate Professor at Tsinghua’s Department of International Relations. The forum was moderated by CISS fellow SONG Bo.

On March 28, 2025, the 18th StratFocus Forum of the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) of Tsinghua University themed “Modernization and the Rise and Fall of Energy-Abundant States” was held. The keynote speaker was Song Yiming, Lecturer at the School of International Relations and Diplomacy at Beijing Foreign Studies University and Director of the Department of Diplomacy. The forum was moderated by Wang Congyue, Postdoc Fellow, Shuimu Tsinghua scholar of CISS, Tsinghua University.

On May 28, the 15th StratFocus Forum of the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) of Tsinghua University themed “The U.S. Economy and the Latest U.S. China-related Bills” was held.

On April 23, CISS Youth was invited to visit Schwarzman College to hold the 2nd youth dialogue with current Schwarzman scholars. Continuing the spirit of frankness, openness, and inclusiveness of the first youth dialogue in December 2023, the two sides discussed US foreign policy and its impact on China-US relations, aiming to enhance the understanding of international relations through academic exchanges and dialogues among the young scholars, especially the perception of changes and challenges of China-US relations in the current global political and economic situation. The dialogue was moderated by Sun Chenghao, Fellow of CISS, and Andrew Bilden, Scholar from Schwarzman College.

The Asia-Pacific region is of immense geopolitical significance, serving as a hub for global trade, commerce, and strategic interests. Given the increasing influence of countries like China and the rapid economic growth of several Southeast Asian nations, the U.S. strategy in this region has far-reaching implications for regional stability and security. In this regard, Ankara Center for Crisis and Policy Studies (ANKASAM) brings to your attention the views of Fellow Sun Chenghao from the Center for International Security and Strategy at Tsinghua University to evaluate the U.S.’s strategic approach in the Asia-Pacific.

On October 23, the 12th StratFocus Forum of the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) of Tsinghua University themed “Synergy between von der Leyen-led European Commission Trade Policy and Foreign Policy and its Dilemma” was held. On June 27, the 11th StratFocus Forum of the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) of Tsinghua University themed “‘NATO-ization’ of the Asia-Pacific: Trends and Limitations” was held, where Ling Shengli, Deputy Director of the Institute of International Relations at China Foreign Affairs University, was invited as the key speaker, and Qiu Chaobing, Research Fellow of the Institute of American Studies under the Chinses Academy of Social Sciences, and Du Lan, Deputy Director and Associate Research Fellow of the Department for Asia-Pacific Studies of the China Institute of International Studies as panelists.

On the afternoon of June 2, the 10th StratFocus Forum of the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) of Tsinghua University was successfully held, with about 200 participants joining the forum online and offline.

​On the afternoon of April 14, the 9th StratFocus Forum of the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) of Tsinghua University was held in Conference Room 428B, Mingli Building, Tsinghua University, with about 200 participants joining the forum online. Featuring Jie Dalei, Associate Professor of the School of International Studies at Peking University, as the key speaker, the forum themed “The Ambiguity and Clarity of the U.S. Policy toward Taiwan.”

In the afternoon of October 28, the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) of Tsinghua University held the 6th StratFocus Forum in Conference Room 428B, Mingli Building, Tsinghua University, with more than 200 participants joining the event online.
