At the invitation of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) in London, Professor Da Wei, Director of the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University, and Zhou Bo, CISS Research Fellow and China Forum Special Expert, attended the 22nd Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore from May 30 to June 1.

From May 21 to 22, Dr. Sun Chenghao, Associate Research Fellow at the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS), Tsinghua University, was invited to attend the 31st Stockholm China Forum in Sweden. As a speaker in the opening session, Dr. Sun delivered remarks and engaged with questions from the audience.

From April 26 to 27, 2025, Dr. Dong Ting,Fellow at the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS), Tsinghua University, was invited to attend the Singapore Conference on Artificial Intelligence (SCAI). Nearly one hundred researchers in AI technology, industry, and policy from over a dozen countries including Singapore, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, China, Japan, and South Korea participated in the conference. They gathered to identify and advance priorities for shaping safe and trustworthy AI.

From April 9 to 12, Prof.DA Wei, Director of the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University, attended the 10th Delphi Economic Forum in Delphi, Greece.

Despite the unclear and uncertain picture of the current China-US relations, observers have emphasized the opportunities where the two countries could make a deal and advance cooperation.At a panel themed at "China-US relations: Is a 'grand bargain' possible?" on Friday during the 7th International Forum on Security and Strategy held by Tsinghua University, observers explored areas where the two sides could have more engagement and cooperation despite the US ramping up tariffs on Chinese goods and taking more protectionist measures.

On April 3, 2025, the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace (CEIP) co-hosted the “2025 China-U.S. Track II Dialogue.” The event was co-chaired by Da Wei, Director of CISS and Professor at the Department of International Relations at Tsinghua University, and Rick Waters, Director of the Carnegie China Center. Experts from both sides participated virtually and engaged in in-depth discussions around two themes: “Artificial Intelligence at a Crossroads: U.S.-China Cooperation and Competition” and “AI Technology Diffusion in Developing Countries.”

On March 27–28, XIAO Qian, Deputy Director of the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University and Deputy Director of the Institute for International Governance of Artificial Intelligence, was invited to attend the inaugural “Global AI Safety and Ethics” International Symposium held at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland. The event was organized by the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR). Its aim was to bring together experts from governments, industry, academia, and civil society to jointly explore and address the complex implications of artificial intelligence (AI) for international security.

On November 15-16, 2024, Professor Da Wei, the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) of Tsinghua University, was invited to Hong Kong to attend the U.S.-China Hong Kong Forum 2024, co-organized by the China-United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF) and the China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE).

On October 9, 2024, the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) of Tsinghua University held a roundtable seminar on “International History: State of the Field.” CISS invited experts and scholars from Harvard University, Peking University, Tsinghua University, and Renmin University of China (RUC) to participate in the seminar. The participants had in-depth discussions on changes in today’s international situation and new trends in the development of disciplines. She Gangzheng, Associate Professor of the Department of International Relations and Director of the Center for Overseas Security at Tsinghua University, moderated the seminar.

From October 5 to 13, 2024, Professor Da Wei, Director of the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) of Tsinghua University, participated in a series of release events for The Asia Foundation’s research report “U.S.-China-Southeast Asia Relations: Challenges and Opportunities for Regional Cooperation.” (Click “Read More” at the end of this article to download the original report.)

On September 26-27, 2024, the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) of Tsinghua University and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace (CEIP) held the “2024 U.S.-China Track II Dialogue” at CISS. Da Wei, Director of CISS and Professor of the Department of International Relations at Tsinghua University, and Evan Feigenbaum, Vice President for Studies at CEIP, co-moderated the event which featured two sessions: “Sino-U.S. Relations” and “Russo-Ukrainian War and the China-Russia-U.S. Trilateral Relations.” Experts and scholars from China and the U.S. engaged in in-depth discussions during the event.

On September 3, 2024, Da Wei, Director of the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) and Professor of the Department of International Relations at Tsinghua University, was invited to Singapore to attend Lianhe Zaobao Conversations, part of the Asia Future Summit series. In this event hosted by Lianhe Zaobao, Professor Da Wei delivered a keynote speech titled “US Election and the Future of China-US Relations.”
