On April 3, a delegation from the Brookings Institution visited the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University. The two sides held in-depth discussions on a range of topics, including the current international landscape, China-U.S. people-to-people exchanges, artificial intelligence, and recent U.S. tariff measures against global trade partners.

On April 3, 2025, the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace (CEIP) co-hosted the “2025 China-U.S. Track II Dialogue.” The event was co-chaired by Da Wei, Director of CISS and Professor at the Department of International Relations at Tsinghua University, and Rick Waters, Director of the Carnegie China Center. Experts from both sides participated virtually and engaged in in-depth discussions around two themes: “Artificial Intelligence at a Crossroads: U.S.-China Cooperation and Competition” and “AI Technology Diffusion in Developing Countries.”

On March 27–28, XIAO Qian, Deputy Director of the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University and Deputy Director of the Institute for International Governance of Artificial Intelligence, was invited to attend the inaugural “Global AI Safety and Ethics” International Symposium held at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland. The event was organized by the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR). Its aim was to bring together experts from governments, industry, academia, and civil society to jointly explore and address the complex implications of artificial intelligence (AI) for international security.

On March 29, 2025, from 8:00 to 10:00 AM Beijing time, the third plenary session of the second "Gen Z Dialogue: Seeking Common Ground" series was jointly held by the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University and the US-China Education Trust (USCET). The event was co-organized by CISS Youth and the Tsinghua Student Association for China-U.S. People-to-People Exchange. The series aims to provide a platform for youth from China and the United States to exchange ideas on key issues such as education, climate, conflict resolution, and public health, promoting mutual understanding across borders.

At 8:00 a.m. Beijing time on March 29, the second plenary session of the 2025 “Tsinghua-Yale Youth Dialogue” series, co-hosted by the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University and the Paul Tsai China Center at Yale Law School, was officially held. This marks the third time that CISS and the Yale China Center have jointly organized the “Tsinghua-Yale Dialogue” series.

On the morning of April 1st, a student delegation from Mathias Corvinus Collegium (MCC) of Hungary visited Tsinghua University and Center for International Security and Strategy(CISS). They engaged in in-depth discussions with CISS faculty and student representatives on current international relations issues.

On March 28, 2025, the 18th StratFocus Forum of the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) of Tsinghua University themed “Modernization and the Rise and Fall of Energy-Abundant States” was held. The keynote speaker was Song Yiming, Lecturer at the School of International Relations and Diplomacy at Beijing Foreign Studies University and Director of the Department of Diplomacy. The forum was moderated by Wang Congyue, Postdoc Fellow, Shuimu Tsinghua scholar of CISS, Tsinghua University.

At noon on March 18, 2025, a delegation from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), led by Deputy Chief Research Analyst and Senior Chief Research Analyst Christopher Bond, visited the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University. The delegation included Dan Carruthers, Head of the China and Indo-Pacific Strategic Stability Team at the FCDO’s Security Policy Department; Henna Chauhan, Senior Officer for Indo-Pacific Strategic Stability at the Security Policy Department; Isabel Ayton, First Secretary of the Science and Technology Section at the British Embassy in China; and Tom Bromly, Second Secretary of the Political Section at the British Embassy in China.

On February 13-14, 2025, CISS of Tsinghua University and the Brookings Institution held the 12th round of the“China-U.S. Track 2 Dialogue on Artifi cial Intelligence and International Security” in Munich. During the Glossary Session, both sides proposed 20 AI risk-related terms for exchange, and then provided their respective definitions for nine of these terms to enhance mutual understanding of the potential security risks posed by artifi cial intelligence.

From March 19 to 21, 2025, the 7th International Forum on Security and Strategy, organized by the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University, was held in Beijing. The forum, themed "Navigating New Paths in a Reshaping Global Order ," gathered more than 60 distinguished guests from China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, Australia, South Korea, Germany, Singapore, and other countries. Discussions focused on four key topics: "Global Order in Flux,""A New Landscape for China-U.S. Relations," "The Asia-Pacifi c: Choices and Prospects," and " Global Issues Amidst a Shifting Order." During the open session on the afternoon of March 21, over 50 domestic and international media outlets attended to cover the event. The forum was supported by the China-United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF).

On the afternoon of February 25, Arend Wulff, Head of the Political Section at the German Embassy in China, visited the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University, accompanied by Deputy Head Marian Gordzielik and Policy Officer Canan Gündüz. CISS Director Da Wei, Associate Research Fellow Sun Chenghao, and Assistant Research Fellow Shi Yan participated in the discussion. Both sides engaged in an in-depth exchange on topics including China-U.S. relations, U.S.-Europe relations, China-Germany relations, and the Ukraine crisis.

On February 13–14, 2025, the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University and the Brookings Institution jointly hosted U.S.-China Track II Dialogue Round XII on Artificial Intelligence and International Security in Munich, Germany. Former Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Fu Ying and Brookings Institution President Cecilia Rouse attended and delivered speeches. Nearly 40 members from the Chinese and American project teams participated in discussions on topics related to artificial intelligence and international security.
