CISS Experts Attend the Second REAIM Summit

On September 9-10, at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea (ROK), the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) of Tsinghua University organized Chinese experts to attend the second summit on Responsible Artificial Intelligence in the Military Domain (REAIM Summit 2024) in Seoul, the ROK. Co-hosted by the ROK, the Netherlands, Singapore, Kenya, and the United Kingdom, the Summit focuses on the risk and governance of AI applications in the military domain, gathering together more than 2,000 participants from 96 countries and regions. During the period, CISS experts participated in several thematic breakout sessions respectively.

【The 85th Security and Strategy Seminar】CISS Holds Seminar on “Artificial Intelligence-empowered Foreign Affairs”

On the afternoon of August 26, the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) of Tsinghua University held the 85th Security and Strategy Seminar on “Artificial Intelligence-empowered Foreign Affairs.” Moderated by Xiao Qian, Deputy Director of CISS and Vice Dean of the Institute for AI International Governance (I-AIIG), the Seminar invited experts and scholars from Peking University, Tsinghua University, China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL), China People’s Liberation Army National Defense University, Alibaba Group, and other universities and scientific research institutes to exchange views on such topics as the impact of AI on foreign affairs and how to achieve AI-empowered foreign affairs.

CISS Organizes the Tenth Round of U.S.-China Dialogue on Artificial Intelligence and International Security

On June 16-17, 2024, the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) of Tsinghua University and the Brookings Institution co-hosted the Tenth Round of U.S.-China Dialogue on Artificial Intelligence and International Security in Bali Island, Indonesia, with the support of Australia’s Minderoo Foundation. Colin Kahl, former United States Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, attended the event and delivered a speech. A total of more than 30 project team members from China and the US participated in the Dialogue and engaged in in-depth discussions on AI terms, scenarios, and China-US cooperation on AI governance.
