On March 6, Professor Da Wei, Director of the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University, was invited to Hong Kong to attend the academic seminar titled “China' s Rising Role in International Mediation: Practice and Mechanism Innovation.”
The seminar was jointly organized by the Contemporary China and World Research Center (CCCW) at the University of Hong Kong and the Center for Peace and Conflict Studies at Seton Hall University, USA. Attendees included Li Cheng, Director of CCCW; Wang Zheng, Director of the Center for Peace and Conflict Studies at Seton Hall University; former U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan Karl Ikenberry; Victor Ramraj, Professor at the University of Victoria, Canada; professors Han Enze, Shahla Ali, Zhang Chi from the University of Hong Kong; and Zhang Yun, Professor at Nanjing University, among others.
On the morning of March 6, participants visited the newly established International Mediation Institute (IOMed). Sun Jin, Executive Deputy Secretary-General of IOMed, introduced the background, establishment process, main objectives, and current key practices of the institute. Experts held in-depth discussions with Secretary-General Sun on the institute' s role and future prospects.


In the afternoon, the seminar was held at the University of Hong Kong. Scholars discussed China' s increasingly prominent role in international mediation, the characteristics of China' s mediation efforts, and the relationship between IOMed and existing international frameworks and practices.
Later that afternoon, Professor Da Wei attended a public seminar on “A Preview of the China–U.S. Leadership Summit” at the University of Hong Kong, alongside Professors Wang Zheng and Zhang Yun. In the evening, CCCW hosted a dinner at the University of Hong Kong, during which Professor Da Wei shared his perspectives on current China–U.S. relations with the attending representatives.
