On January 13, 2022, the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) of Tsinghua University and China Forum jointly organized the 25th Security and Strategy Seminar themed “The Changing Landscape of Afghanistan and Its Impact”. YUE Xiaoyong, Special Envoy for Afghan Affairs of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, was invited to share his 112-day diplomatic experience of 30 visits to 15 countries, as well as his latest insights into Afghanistan. The panelists discussed Afghanistan’s challenges in the current and next phase, including its short-term security issue, long-term development issue, and its domestic humanitarian crisis. The meeting was moderated by Ms. HAN Hua, Executive Committee Member of China Forum, with CISS Director DA Wei and China Forum Secretary General ZHANG Lirong giving the opening and concluding remarks respectively.
