The Students of CUSEF Spring Festival Exchange Program Visit Tsinghua University

On January 5, the Students of CUSEF Spring Festival Exchange Program visited Tsinghua University and participated in a China–U.S. youth exchange event hosted by the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University. The event was moderated by Guo Jia, Director of International Exchange and Cooperation at CISS. Nearly 30 young students from China and the United States engaged in in-depth discussions on topics including current trends in China–U.S. relations and the responsibilities and roles of youth in global governance.

Xiao Qian, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange at Tsinghua University and Deputy Director of CISS, introduced the visiting students to Tsinghua University’s overall development, its global engagement strategy, and its distinctive educational approach centered on cultivating students with strong global competence. She encouraged young people from both countries to continue deepening exchanges and enhancing mutual understanding.

Da Wei, Professor of the Department of International Relations at Tsinghua University and Director of CISS, delivered a keynote speech on the current challenges and future trajectory of China–U.S. relations. He provided a systematic analysis of the structural characteristics of the bilateral relationship and engaged in in-depth discussion and interaction with students on international issues of common concern to young people.

During the open discussion session, Chinese and American students were divided into groups to exchange views on international hotspot issues, cross-cultural experiences, and academic and campus life. The discussions were candid and friendly, reflecting the shared willingness of young people from both countries to strengthen communication and deepen mutual understanding amid a complex international environment.

Representatives from Schwarzman College at Tsinghua University, as well as from the student organizations “CISS Youth (Strategic Youth)” and the Student Association for International Security Studies (SAISS), actively participated in the exchange. The event was jointly supported by the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange at Tsinghua University, the China–U.S. Exchange Foundation (CUSEF), and the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.
