On October 18, 2024, China Forum under the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University held the second edition of its China Forum – Face to Face series titled “An Outlook for the BRICS.”
Panelists explored BRICS expansion, the BRICS PAY system and other issues, and believed that with new members onboard, the bloc’s global influence will continue to grow, and that adjusting its internal decision-making mechanism through multi-level dialogue can ensure effective communication and broaden cooperation potentials among member countries after the diversification of the BRICS system.
Among the panelists were Zhang Jiadong, professor of international relations, Fudan University; Vladimir Eremin, counselor, International Liaison Office, General Office, Russian Federation Council; Wang Lei, professor, School of Government, Beijing Normal University; John Gong, professor, University of International Business and Economics; Lan Jianxue, director, Department for Asia-Pacific Studies, China Institute of International Studies; Guo Jie, associate professor, School of International Studies, Peking University; Song Bo, fellow, CISS; Vitor Moura, co-founder, Lantau; Xiao Qian, deputy director, CISS; Wen Jing, director of international communication, China Forum; Guo Jia, senior project manager, China Forum; and Qian Jiatong, assistant, China Forum.
Representatives from The Asahi Shimbun, Bloomberg, Rossiya Segodnya, South China Morning Post, Press Trust of India, and United Kingdom National Committee on China were invited to the event.
The China Forum – Face to Face series aim to serve as a bridge of communication between experts, scholars and media, so that China and the rest of world can better understand each other.
