On the afternoon of April 21, a delegation from the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft visited the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University. The two sides engaged in in-depth exchanges on topics including the international order, China–U.S. relations, and regional hotspot issues.

At the beginning of the meeting, Da Wei, Director of CISS, welcomed the Quincy Institute delegation and introduced CISS’s key research areas as well as its international exchanges and cooperation initiatives. Lora Lumpe, Chief Executive Officer of the Quincy Institute, expressed appreciation for the warm reception and provided an overview of the institute’s work. She also expressed hope that the two think tanks would further deepen exchanges and cooperation in the future.
The participating experts conducted extensive discussions on the current international security landscape as well as the opportunities and challenges facing China–U.S. relations. Experts noted that although China–U.S. relations have experienced fluctuations and setbacks in recent years, the need for cooperation on global issues remains significant. How to strengthen dialogue and communication, properly manage differences, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, and seek a balance between competition and cooperation will remain important issues in the coming period.

Participants from the Quincy Institute included Lora Lumpe, Research Director Marcus Stanley, Eurasia Program Director Anatol Lieven, East Asia Program Director Jake Werner, Democratizing Foreign Policy Program Director Ben Freeman, and Senior Researcher for the East Asia Program (Technology) Denis Simon.
Participants from CISS included Director Da Wei; Senior Fellow and China Forum Expert Zhou Bo; Non-resident Senior Fellow An Gang; Senior Fellow Dong Ting; Fellow Song Bo and Shi Yan; and Postdoctoral Fellow Wen Jing.
