On April 13, 2026, during the visit to Tsinghua University, Pedro Sánchez, President of the Government of Spain, attended the Seminar on China-EU Relations hosted by the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University. He held in-depth discussions with Chinese experts on the development of China-EU relations and the prospects for China-Spain cooperation amid the current international situation. The seminar was moderated by Yang Bin, Vice Chancellor of Tsinghua University Council.

Pedro Sánchez and expert representatives from China and Spain conducted in-depth exchanges on the development orientation of China-EU relations and the prospects for China-Spain cooperation against the backdrop of profound adjustments in the international landscape. Participating experts analyzed the opportunities and challenges in such fields as global governance, regional security, economy, trade, science and technology, and put forward suggestions for bilateral and multilateral cooperation. The discussion held that under the current circumstances, strengthening policy communication and expanding cooperation space between China and Spain is of great significance for advancing China-EU relations and jointly addressing global challenges.

Also in attendance from the Spanish side were Marta Betanzos Roig, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to the Popular Republic of China; Diego Rubio Rodríguez, Director of the Cabinet of the Presidency of the Government; Manuel de la Rocha Vázquez, Director of the Bureau of Economic Affairs and G20; Pilar Sánchez Bella, Director of the Department for Foreign Affairs; and Alexandra Gil Polo, Director of the Department for International Information.
