At the invitation of the Chatham House, Professor Da Wei, Director of the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University, visited the United Kingdom from February 25 to 26 to participate in the 2026 Security and Defence Conference hosted by the institute.

During the conference, Da Wei delivered keynote remarks at the second plenary session titled “China, the Asia-Pacific and 2049.” He joined experts from the United Kingdom, India, and Indonesia in a discussion on the security situation in the Asia-Pacific and China' s relations with countries in the region, and also responded to questions from the audience.

Following the conference, Da Wei paid a visit to Bronwen Maddox, Director and Chief Executive of Chatham House. He also exchanged views with experts from the UK Cabinet, Parliament, the Foreign Office, and the financial sector. The discussion was moderated by Yu Jie, Senior Research Fellow of the China Programme at Chatham House.
