From January 6 to 9, 2026, a research delegation from the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University conducted field research in Shenzhen and Guangzhou. The visit aimed to gain in-depth insights into the latest developments in technological innovation and industrial advancement among Chinese enterprises, and to better understand the interaction between international relations and the technology sector from the perspective of industrial practice. Members of the delegation included Prof. Da Wei, Director of CISS; Chen Qi, Deputy Director of CISS; Yao Yunzhu, Huang Renwei, and Fang Ning, Academic Committee Members of CISS; Zhang Baijia, former Deputy Director of the Party History Research Office of the CPC Central Committee; Zheng Xiyuan and Li Chen, Special Experts of CISS; as well as members of CISS’s research and administrative teams.

From January 6 to 7, the delegation visited a number of enterprises in Shenzhen, including Huawei, Shokz Technology, Jufu Energy, and VDL ZIJIN Electronics. On January 8, the delegation visited the Shenzhen (Longhua) International Cooperation Center and held discussions with representatives from the Longhua District government and several technology and intelligent manufacturing enterprises, focusing on areas such as the low-altitude economy and intelligent manufacturing. Cao Saixian, Director of the Foreign Affairs Commission Office of the Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee, and Zhang Zhi, Member of the Standing Committee of the Longhua District Party Committee and Director of the District Party Committee (Government) Office, attended the meeting.

On the afternoon of January 8, the delegation visited Meituan’s National Life Services Consumption Big Data Operations Center and Foxconn’s Guanlan Sustainable Lighthouse Factory. On the morning of January 9, the delegation visited EHang Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd. and XPeng Motors in Guangzhou.

During the visit, the delegation also paid a special visit to Lianhuashan Park in Shenzhen, where they paid tribute to the bronze statue of Comrade Deng Xiaoping and laid flowers in his honor.
