Delegation from the Atlantic Council Visits CISS

On November 21, 2025, a delegation from the U.S. Atlantic Council visited the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University, exchanging views with Chinese experts on issues of mutual concern in U.S.-China relations. The meeting was hosted by Da Wei, Director of CISS and Professor in the Department of International Relations.

The two sides discussed U.S. strategic documents and examined American foreign and economic policies under “Trump 2.0,” exploring their underlying logic and potential future directions. Experts also exchanged views on the long-term visions of the U.S. and China regarding the global order, including assessing the stability of current relations and understanding each other’s strategic thinking.

Chinese participants included Fan Jishe, Vice President and Professor at the International Strategic Studies Institute, Central Party School (National Academy of Governance); Yu Tiejun, Director and Professor of the Institute of International Strategy, Peking University; Shao Yuqun, Director of the Taiwan-Hong Kong-Macau Studies Division and Researcher at the U.S. Studies Center, Shanghai Institute of International Studies; Li Chen, Associate Professor at the School of International Studies, Renmin University of China; Qi Haotian, Associate Professor at the School of International Studies, Peking University; Yu Xiang, Senior Specialist at China Construction Bank and CISS Visiting Expert; Da Wei, Director of CISS and Professor; and Sun Chenghao, Associate Research Fellow at CISS.

U.S. participants included Stephen Hadley, former U.S. National Security Advisor and Executive Vice Chairman of the Atlantic Council; Gary Rieschel, Founder of Qiming Venture Partners and Co-Chair of the Atlantic Council Global China Center; Elizabeth Economy, Senior Fellow at Stanford University; Melanie Hart, Senior Director at the Atlantic Council Global China Center; and Adam Segal, Director of the Digital and Cyberspace Project at the Council on Foreign Relations.
