On November 13–14, Dr. Sun Chenghao, Associate Research Fellow at the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS), Tsinghua University, was invited to participate in the 32nd Stockholm China Forum held in Seoul, South Korea. As a speaker in the final session, Dr. Sun engaged with scholars from the U.S. and Europe to discuss the global order and China–U.S. relations, and responded to questions from the audience.

During his speech, Dr. Sun highlighted the unprecedented challenges facing the global order in recent years:
Headwinds to Economic Globalization: Anti-globalization sentiment and protectionist tendencies are rising worldwide. Measures such as tariff increases and withdrawal from multilateral mechanisms during the Trump administration have particularly impacted the WTO-centered multilateral trade system.
Escalating Geopolitical Conflicts: Crises such as the Ukraine war and the Israel–Palestine conflict have exposed the limitations of existing international security mechanisms. Institutions like the UN Security Council face challenges in conflict prevention and mediation.
Emerging Non-Traditional Security Risks: Risks arising from artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, climate change, and public health have become increasingly prominent.
Dr. Sun emphasized that China and the U.S. should actively leverage multilateral platforms such as the United Nations to seek areas of cooperation on global issues like AI governance and public health, injecting positive momentum into bilateral relations.
