On May 14, members of CISS Youth from the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University, along with representatives from the Tsinghua Student Association for U.S.-China People-to-People Exchange, visited Schwarzman College for a youth dialogue with the ninth cohort of Schwarzman Scholars. Themed “Bridging the Pacific: US-China Youth Dialogue”, the event focused on exploring practical avenues for cooperation between China and the United States in the areas of trade, technology, and geopolitics. The dialogue was moderated by Schwarzman Scholar Mithra Dhinakaran.
During the discussion, young scholars from both sides exchanged views on key issues in China-U.S. relations, with particular attention to trade, technological competition, and geopolitical tensions. Participants emphasized the vital role that students and young academics can play in advancing mutual understanding and building bridges in these areas. Both sides agreed on the importance of institutionalizing this dialogue among CISS Youth, the Student Association for U.S.-China People-to-People Exchange, and Schwarzman Scholars, and expressed the desire to establish it as a recurring and signature platform for sustained engagement. Such continued exchanges, they noted, would help foster deeper mutual understanding among young leaders and inject greater positive momentum into the long-term development of China-U.S. relations.Following the dialogue, participants shared a dinner together at Schwarzman College.
