On the afternoon of September 26, the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) of Tsinghua University held the 76th session of the Forum on Security and Strategy—Seminar on “Decoding U.S. Indo-Pacific Strategy,” inviting more than ten experts and scholars from Peking University (PKU), Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), Fudan University, Guangxi University for Nationalities (GXUN), Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR), and Tsinghua University for discussions and exchanges. The Seminar was held online and offline. Chen Qi, Deputy Director of CISS, delivered a speech, and Dong Ting, Fellow of CISS, moderated the Seminar.
During the keynote speeches, the participating experts conducted in-depth analysis and full discussion from the perspectives of the regional countries of their respective studies on topics of the interaction between the United States and the Indo-Pacific countries in the fields of politics, economy and trade, science and technology, and security, and the attitudes and choices of the Indo-Pacific countries in responding to China-U.S. competition.
The Seminar was joined by Li Li, Deputy Dean and Research Fellow of the Institute of International Relations at Tsinghua University; Xu Liping, Researcher of the National Institute of International Strategy (NIIS) and Director of the Center for Southeast Asian Studies at CASS; Song Qingrun, Professor of Department of Asian Regional Studies of School of Asian Studies and Researcher at the Center for Southeast Asian Studies at BFSU; Xue Song, Associate Professor of the Institute of International Studies at Fudan University; Yang Jinglin, Director of the Institute of Singapore Studies of College of ASEAN Studies at GXUN; Zhou Fangye, Associate Researcher of the NIIS at the CASS; Zhang Tian, Assistant Researcher of the Institute of Area Studies at PKU; Nie Huihui, Assistant Researcher of the Institute of Southeast Asian and Oceanian Studies of the CICIR; Xie Chengsuo, former Counselor for Science and Technology of the Mission of China to ASEAN; and Cao Zhouhua, former Head of Science and Technology Affairs at the Embassy of the Peoples’ Republic of China in Thailand and Pakistan.
