【THE 69TH SECURITY AND STRATEGY SEMINAR】INTERNATIONAL COMMUNICATION OF THINK TANKS: MISSION AND PATH

On June 12, 2023, the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University hosted a visit from a delegation led by Chen Dongxiao, President of the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS), and held the 69th Security and Strategy Seminar on the topic of “International Communication of Think Tanks: Mission and Path”. The parties focused on the current international communication and capacity building of think tanks and brought together over ten experts and scholars from Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China (RUC), and the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies (ACCWS), among others, for inspiring discussions.

The seminar was presided over by Professor Da Wei, Director of CISS. Distinguished experts conducted in-depth discussions on a variety of topics, including the missions and objectives of think tank communication, the current state and challenges of China’s think tank international communication, and possible strategies for addressing these challenges.

Experts participating the seminar included: Chen Dongxiao, SIIS President and Party Secretary-General; Ye Qing, SIIS Office Director; Shao Yuqun, Head of Institute for Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao Studies; Zhu Juhua, Director of the Department of International Exchange; Li Xin, Executive Director of the SIIS Center for International Communications; Yu Hongyuan, Director of the SIIS Institute for Public Policy and Innovation Studies; Wang Weihua from the SIIS Office; Shi Anbin, Associate Dean and Professor at the School of Journalism and Communication, Tsinghua University; Wang Wen, Executive Dean of Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies, RUC; ACCWS Dean Yu Yunquan; CISS Deputy Directors Xiao Qian and Chen Qi; and Research Fellows Dong Ting, Shi Yan, Sun Chenghao, and Wen Jodie.
