On January 15, 2026, China Forum of the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University successfully held its ninth "China Forum · Face to Face" Dialogue. The event focused on the release of the CISS report, 2025 PUBLIC OPINION SURVEY REPORT CHINESE OUTLOOK ON INTERNATIONAL SECURITY. Experts and scholars from The Carter Center (USA), the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, and representatives from global media in China were invited to participate in in-depth discussions on the latest perceptions of the Chinese public regarding international security issues.
The event was opened by Prof. Da Wei, Director of CISS. Dr. Dong Ting, Fellow at CISS, presented the survey's key findings and interpreted certain cognitive changes to the attending experts and journalists. Dr. Wen Jing, Postdoctoral Fellow at CISS and Director of Media Communications at China Forum, moderated the expert discussion and media interaction session.
Prof. Liu Yawei, Senior Advisor for China Programs at The Carter Center; Dr. Nick Zeller, Executive Editor of the US-China Perception Monitor; and Dr. Dina Smeltz, Senior Fellow and Director of Public Opinion and Foreign Policy at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, shared polling results from their respective institutions. Experts engaged in an in-depth discussion on the main conclusions and survey methodology of the newly released report.
Representatives from media outlets included: Financial Times, Der Spiegel, Bloomberg News, O Globo (Brazil), Rossiya Segodnya International News Agency, The Asahi Shimbun, NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation), Lianhe Zaobao, and the South China Morning Post.
