The theme of this event was "China: A 'Stabilizer' in a Turbulent World – A Dialogue with Zhou Bo and His New Book." The book, Should the world fear China?, was jointly published in April 2025 by Hurst & Company in London and Oxford University Press. In the book, Zhou Bo, Research Fellow at CISS and Special Expert of the China Forum, delves into major issues such as China-US relations, China-Russia relations, China's international responsibilities, and the future of the international order, offering robust responses to numerous questions from Western societies regarding China's rise. The book has garnered widespread international attention since its publication, receiving in-depth coverage from major global media outlets including CNN, BBC, The Guardian (UK), La Stampa (Italy), Süddeutsche Zeitung (Germany), The Christian Daily (Denmark), Il Fatto Quotidiano (Italy), CGTN (China), Bloomberg, Politico, and the South China Morning Post. Notably, the BBC and Bloomberg conducted special interviews with the author lasting 7 minutes and 15 minutes respectively. Additionally, Zhou Bo was invited to give keynote speeches at the London School of Economics (LSE) and an event hosted by The Ambassador Partnership at the Traveler’s Club, where he elaborated on the book's core arguments.

These included Xiao Qian (Deputy Director, CISS), Einar Tangen (Senior Fellow, Taihe Institute), Dong Ting (Associate Research Fellow, CISS), and Vasilis Trigkas (Visiting Assistant Professor, Schwarzman College, Tsinghua University). During the interactive session, young Chinese and international scholars, media representatives, and students actively posed questions, creating a vibrant atmosphere. Deputy Director Xiao Qian concluded the event with closing remarks.

In recent years, as China's comprehensive national strength continues to grow, the international community's perception of China's global role is undergoing profound changes. However, some Western countries still hold cognitive biases regarding China's peaceful development. Against this backdrop, accurately communicating China's development philosophy to the international community is particularly crucial.

The discussion also extended to the evolution of the current world landscape, featuring an in-depth analysis tracing the historical roots of six major crises in the European region. The experts offered multidimensional interpretations, providing new perspectives for understanding today's international situation.

Media representatives attending the event included: British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), National Public Radio (NPR), Financial Times (FT), Die Zeit (Germany), Bloomberg, Hong Kong Ta Kung Wen Wei Media Group, Associated Press (AP), Rossiya Segodnya (Russia), The Asahi Shimbun (Japan), Moroccan News Agency (MAP), South China Morning Post (SCMP), Nikkei (Chinese edition), Phoenix Weekly, China Internet Information Center (China.org.cn), Guangdong Radio and Television (GRT), Phoenix New Media, Xinhua News Agency, and China Global Television Network (CGTN).
