China Forum Holds 2024 End-of-Year Meeting and Seminar on International Communication

Deputy director of Tsinghua University’s Institute of Energy, Environment and Economy，Teng Fei, attended the Global Town Hall Mini Series on “Bridging the North-South Gap" and took a look ahead to COP28.

​China Forum Secretary General Zhang Lirong as well as Experts Gong Jiong and Huang Jing attended the Seminar on International Trade and National Security.

Global Town Hall 2023 was held on September 2. The 15-hour North-South, East-West marathon virtual discussion themed “This is Our World Too” featured 11 panels bringing together foreign ministers worldwide and leading minds at international organizations.

On June 14, Gong Jiong, a China Forum expert and vice president for research at UIBE Israel, participated in two panels at The Future of Finance Summit 2023 in Bangkok.

On the evening of April 26, Professor Da Wei, director of Tsinghua University’s Center for International Security and Strategy and vice chair of China Forum, attended a briefing for Chinese and foreign media at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the conversation between the Chinese and Ukrainian leaders and answered questions.

On April 13, the first International Dialogue on Stories of Global Development was held in Zunyi, Guizhou Province. Wen Jing, director of international communication at China Forum, Center for International Security and Strategy, Tsinghua University, was invited to attend the event and served as the bilingual moderator of the main forum.

On March 29, China Forum under the Center for International Security and Strategy of Tsinghua University held a mid-year workshop for its research interns who are working on their graduate, post-graduate or doctoral studies.

On February 28, China Forum (CF) under the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University held a seminar on its action plan for 2023 and international communication, convening more than thirty experts and scholars either online or offline.

China Forum Holds Sub-forum on “Science & Innovation Shape the Future of Digital Economy” of Forum on Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of Government Sponsored Chinese Students in the UK.

On August 27-29, the Erhai Forum on Global Ecological Civilization Construction 2022 was held in Dali, China. On August 28, a parallel session titled “Green Food for Ecological Improvement” was jointly hosted by China Forum under the Center for International Security and Strategy of Tsinghua University and the China Center for International Communication Development.

On July 8, 2022, China Forum (CF) of Tsinghua University’s Center for International Security and Strategy held a mid-year workshop for its student assistants. Moderated by CF Secretary General Zhang Lirong, the event convened the Forum’s executive committee member Han Hua, all CF staff and student assistants.

​On July 8, 2022, China Forum (CF) under Tsinghua University’s Center for International Security and Strategy held its mid-year internal seminar, convening more than 20 experts and scholars onsite and online. Eric Li, vice chairman of China Forum, also joined the meeting via video link.

​On June 15, Senior Colonel Zhou Bo (ret.), a senior fellow at Tsinghua University’s Center for International Security and Strategy and a China Forum expert, attended a seminar of the Centre for Policy Research (CPR) themed “Two years after Galwan, the state of China-India ties.”

Senior Colonel Zhou Bo (ret.), a senior fellow at Tsinghua University’s Center for International Security and Strategy and a China Forum expert, gave an interview to CNBC’s Street Signs Asia the next day on General Wei’s speech and his talks with the US defense secretary, which was published on CNBC.com. From 2013 to 2019, Zhou has been invited to speak at the Shangri-La Dialogue as a member and expert of the Chinese military delegation.

Senior Colonel Zhou Bo (ret.), a senior fellow at the Center for International Security and Strategy of Tsinghua University and a China Forum expert, spoke on China-US relations and Taiwan in a recent interview to CNBC’s Squawk Box Asia. An article titled “China would only use force as a ‘last resort’ for Taiwan reunification, former PLA official says,” along with the video of the interview, were published on CNBC.com on May 24.

On April 5, 2022, the Valdai Discussion Club hosted an expert discussion titled “Gas for Rubles: Buy It If You Can,” which focused on the possible reshaping of the global energy landscape amid the Russia-Ukraine conflict, whether the EU can push Russian energy out of its fuel balance, and the reorientation of Russian energy to other markets. Among the invited panelists was Professor FU Chengyu, an expert at China Forum under Tsinghua University’s Center for International Security and Strategy and former Sinopec Chairman.

​ZHOU Bo, a fellow at Tsinghua University’s Center for International Security and Strategy and a China Forum expert, was recently interviewed by The Straits Times on nuclear security in East Asia amid the Russia-Ukraine war, and he was quoted by the newspaper in an opinion piece entitled “Nuclear lessons from the war in Ukraine” on March 28.

ZHOU Bo, a fellow at Center for International Security and Strategy, Tsinghua University (CISS) and a China Forum expert, was recently interviewed by The Economist on Ukraine, where his views were quoted in an opinion piece titled “China has honed its justifications for taking Russia’s side” published by the newspaper on March 26.

On March 17-18, CUI Hongjian, a China Forum expert and director of the Department for European Studies at the China Institute of International Studies, spoke at the plenary session entitled “EU Indo-Pacific Strategy: How can the EU build its economic reach and influence in the region?” of the Ditchley conference “Europe after Merkel: how can the EU best build on its strengths and mitigate its risks?”
