On the morning of April 11, 2025, Richard McGregor, Senior Fellow for East Asia at the Lowy Institute, led a delegation to visit the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University. The delegation also included Sam Roggeveen, Director of the International Security Program at the Lowy Institute, and Susannah Patton, Director of the Southeast Asia Program.
CISS Deputy Director Chen Qi, CISS Associate Fellow Sun Chenghao, Lecturer and Master’s Supervisor Xia Fangbo from the School of International Relations at Beijing Foreign Studies University, CISS Postdoctoral Fellow and Assistant Researcher Wang Congyue, and Ph.D. candidate Xu Yingdong from the Department of International Relations at Tsinghua University participated in the meeting.
The two sides held in-depth discussions on several key issues, including China-U.S. economic and trade relations, the impact of a potential "Trump 2.0 era" on the international order, the regional and global implications of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and the strategic consequences of the AUKUS agreement.
