On the morning of April 1st, a student delegation from Mathias Corvinus Collegium (MCC) of Hungary visited Tsinghua University and Center for International Security and Strategy(CISS). They engaged in in-depth discussions with CISS faculty and student representatives on current international relations issues.
At the beginning of the event,, DA Wei, Director of CISS and Professor of School of Social Sciences, Tsinghua University,, delivered welcome speech. Xiao Qian, Deputy Director of CISS, gave the students a comprehensive introduction to Tsinghua University from multiple perspectives, including the history of Tsinghua University, subject settings, international programs, and campus life. . This not only enhanced the students' understanding of Tsinghua University but also conveyed the advanced concepts of its international education.
Subsequently, Ms. Viktoria Pintér, a representative from Mathias Corvinus Collegium, briefly described MCC and expressed hope that the foundation of China-Hungary friendship would be continuously strengthened and that student exchange programs between the two countries would flourish in the future.
Next, Sun Chenghao,Fellow of CISS, shared his views on China-US-Europe relations following a potential return of Trump to office, and the consensus and differences between China and Europe on the issue of world multipolarization. Shi Yan, Fellow of CISS, shared research findings focusing on China-US-Europe economic interactions under the new landscape of China-US relations, and the prospects for China-Europe and China-Hungary cooperation.
During the interactive session, the students actively asked questions on topics such as the relationships and impacts concerning China, the US, Europe, and Russia, China-US investment in Africa, and the stances of China, the US, and Russia on Central Asian issues. Prof. Da Wei, Sun Chenghao, and Shi Yan, answered them one by one, fostering a lively exchange.
After the meeting, the students walked to visit the Tsinghua University History Museum. This visit not only provided an in-depth understanding of Tsinghua University but also allowed the students to experience the charm of its long history. During the visit, students from both China and Hungary further discussed topics of mutual interest, exchanged contact information, and took photos together. Both sides looked forward to more opportunities for meeting and exchange in the future.
