CISS Organizes a Roundtable Discussion on “China, Europe, and the Future of the Global Order”

On April 11, the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) of Tsinghua University organized a roundtable discussion in Beijing, inviting Wolfgang Ischinger, former Chairman of the Munich Security Conference (MSC) from 2018 to 2022, to exchange views with Chinese experts. His delegation included Randolf Carr, Senior Policy Advisor at the MSC; Benjamin Thake, Senior Consultant at Agora Strategy; and Cannan Gündüz, First Secretary at the German Embassy in China.

The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on the current international situation, the future of the Ukraine crisis, China-EU relations, and other topics. Ischinger said that in response to the current world full of uncertainties, European countries need to unite and jointly seek solutions to conflicts, in which the parties expect China to play an active role.

The meeting was chaired by Ambassador Fu Ying and attended by Chinese scholars such as Zhou Hong, Member of the Academic Committee of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; Cui Hongjian, Professor of the Academy of Regional and Global Governance at Beijing Foreign Studies University; Wu Shicun, Founding President of the National Institute for South China Sea Studies; Zhao Huaipu, Professor of the Institute of International Relations and Director of the European Studies Center at China Foreign Affairs University; Xiao Qian, Deputy Director of CISS; Zhou Bo, Senior Fellow of CISS; An Gang, Non-resident Fellow of CISS; and Shi Yan, Fellow of CISS.
