On October 28, the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) of Tsinghua University hosted a team of Schwarzman Scholars and held a dialogue on China-US relations. Moderated by CISS Director Da Wei, the dialogue also featured six Schwarzman Scholars led by Professor Wang Zheng, CISS Deputy Director Xiao Qian, and CISS Fellows Song Bo, Dong Ting, Sun Chenghao, Shi Yan, Zhu Rongsheng, and Wen Jing. Wang Zheng is the Boeing visiting chair in international relations at Schwarzman College, professor in the School of Diplomacy and International Relations at Seton Hall University, and director of the Center for Peace and Conflict Studies.

The two sides compared notes on the report delivered by President Xi Jinping at the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the US midterm elections, the US National Security Strategy, and China-US relations. Both sides believe that this dialogue can help young people in the US better understand today’s China as well as help CISS fellows better understand the current domestic and foreign affairs of the US, and expressed the expectation to enhance their communication in the future.
