Tsinghua-Penn Student Dialogue Successfully Held

On May 17, 2025, the "Tsinghua-Penn Student Dialogue" was successfully held at the International Culture xSpace, New Tsinghua Xuetang of Tsinghua University. Co-hosted by the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University and the "Project on the Future of U.S.-China Relations" at the University of Pennsylvania, the event brought together nearly 50 student representatives from countries including China, the United States, Russia, South Korea, India, Indonesia, and Belarus.

Da Wei, Director of CISS, and Neysun Mahboubi, Director of the "Project on the Future of U.S.-China Relations" at the University of Pennsylvania, delivered opening remarks, outlining the purpose of the event and emphasizing the importance of dialogue and exchange among young people from China and the U.S. in the current international context.

The event featured five thematic sessions: Climate and Technology, Human Rights and Ideology, National Security, Economy and Trade, and Education and Research. These sessions were moderated by Xiao Yuanrui, Lecturer of the Center for Global Competence Development, Tsinghua University; He Haibo, Professor at Tsinghua University School of Law; Xie Tao, Professor at the School of International Relations, Beijing Foreign Studies University; Zhao Hai, Research Fellow at the Institute of World Economics and Politics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; and Xiao Qian, Deputy Director of CISS and Dean of the Office of International Affairs at Tsinghua University. Participants engaged in discussions and interactive dialogues on these topics.

The dialogue aimed to provide an open, rational, and in-depth communication platform for young students from China and the United States, enhancing mutual understanding, promoting constructive exchanges, and jointly exploring global issues, thereby contributing youthful perspectives and wisdom to the future of China-U.S. relations.
