At noon on March 18, 2025, a delegation from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), led by Deputy Chief Research Analyst and Senior Chief Research Analyst Christopher Bond, visited the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University. The delegation included Dan Carruthers, Head of the China and Indo-Pacific Strategic Stability Team at the FCDO’s Security Policy Department; Henna Chauhan, Senior Officer for Indo-Pacific Strategic Stability at the Security Policy Department; Isabel Ayton, First Secretary of the Science and Technology Section at the British Embassy in China; and Tom Bromly, Second Secretary of the Political Section at the British Embassy in China.
The meeting was attended by Chen Qi, Deputy Director of CISS; Shi Zhiqin, Professor at the Department of International Relations at Tsinghua University; She Gangzheng, Tenured Associate Professor at the Department of International Relations at Tsinghua University; and Wang Congyue, Postdoctoral Fellow and Assistant Researcher at CISS.
Both parties engaged in discussions on topics such as nuclear posture and strategic stability, the impact of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and risks associated with emerging technologies.
