On July 4, Ambassador Günter Sautter, Director General for International Order, the United Nations and Arms Control in the Federal Foreign Office, and Arend Müller from the Protocol Office of the German Embassy in China, visited the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) of Tsinghua University, and communicated with Da Wei, Director of CISS, Zhou Bo, Senior Fellow of CISS, Wu Riqiang, professor at School of International Studies, Renmin University of China, and Shi Yan, Fellow of CISS.
Both parties exchanged ideas on international situation and arms control. Ambassador Sautter introduced Germany’s policies on the Ukrainian crisis, China-US relations, China-Europe relations, US-Europe relations, security control of emerging technology, and nuclear proliferation prevention, and discussed potential cooperation between China and Germany. CISS experts elaborated on China’s position on the aforementioned issues, and briefed on China’s security concerns. Ambassador Sautter hoped China and Germany could cooperate on arms control and non-proliferation, and looked forward to visiting CISS again for in-depth exchange.
