The year 2021 saw complex and shifting international landscape. The Asia-Pacific region, especially, faced challenges and opportunities amidst global volatility. Will the region be divided or united? What are its most pressing issues? What are the opportunities for future cooperation across the region? How will China and the United States co-exist in the Asia-Pacific? What is the way forward?

The 4th International Forum on Security and Strategy will take place on March 19-20, 2022 in both virtual and in-person formats, bringing together more than 60 renowned scholars and experts from China and across the world for in-depth discussions on those questions. By harnessing our collective intelligence in analyzing the current challenges faced by the international community, we hope to put forward policy recommendations for fostering stability in the international order.

The International Forum on Security and Strategy is one of the core forums of the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University. Now in its fourth year, the forum has been held successfully in Beijing in January 2019, 2020 and 2021. This year’s forum is themed “The Changing Asia-Pacific: United or Divided?” and is structured in five thematic sessions: “Asia-Pacific in a Volatile Global Landscape,” “Hot Issues in Asia-Pacific,” “Cooperation in Asia-Pacific: Future Opportunities,” “US-China in Asia-Pacific,” and “The Way Forward.”
