On May 6, Ashley J. Tellis, Tata Chair for Strategic Affairs and Senior Fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace visited the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) of Tsinghua University and discussed with CISS experts and invited scholars on China-India rivalry and regional security, etc. Professor Da Wei, Director of CISS, chaired the seminar.

Tellis delivered a speech on ‘China-India Competition in South Asia’, providing insights into the current dynamics of China-India relations and analysing the rivalry between the two countries in terms of border disputes, economic rivalry, military power, regional influence, and leadership in the Global South. This was followed by an in-depth discussion on India and China's perceptions of each other, their common interests and major differences, the future of India-China relations, geopolitical implications, and the India-China-US triangle.

The Dialogue was joined by Da Wei, Director of CISS, Professor, School of Social Sciences, Tsinghua University; Rong Ying, Senior Research Fellow, China Institute of International Studies; Hu Shisheng, Director of the Institute of South Asian Studies, China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations; Li Li, Senior Research Professor and the Deputy Director of the Institute of International Relations at Tsinghua University; Wang Xu, Associate Professor and Deputy Managing Director of Center for South Asian Studies, Peking University; and Zhou Bo, Senior Fellow, CISS, Tsinghua University and China Forum expert.
