On July 23, Zhou Bo, senior fellow at Tsinghua University’s Center for International Security and Strategy and a China Forum expert, shared his take on South China Sea issues in an interview with Channel News Asia.
In the interview, Zhou Bo looked at some topical issues around the region and shared his perspectives, such as whether conflict will break out between China and the Philippines and between China and the US over the South China Sea, China’s response to the illegally grounded Philippine military vessel on Ren’ai Reef, and causes for growing tensions in the region in the past two years. He also analyzed America’s motives for building nine military bases in the Philippines, as well as the consequences of Japan, Australia, India and other extra-territorial countries forming exclusives blocs and intervening in South China Sea affairs.
