The dialogue focused on whether the China-US relationship has entered a new phase. Zhang Lirong noted that as China adjusted its Covid policy and its economy picks up fast, the world has its eyes on China’s development and the future of China-US relations.

In his keynote speech, Professor Da Wei said that the China-US relationship is at an unparalleled stage; both Washington and Beijing want to stabilize their bilateral ties despite challenges at different levels. This year offers a valuable opportunity for both sides to work towards the stabilization of China-US relationship as they don’t face major domestic political agenda in 2023.
