On September 29, 2022, the High-Level China-Thailand Think Tank Dialogue was held in Shanghai and Bangkok. On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries, this dialogue was themed “Building a China-Thailand Community with a Shared Future: Social and Sub-Regional Governance Under Oriental Values.”
Messages were delivered by Zhang Weiwei, member of the Council of High-Level National Think Tanks; Nitivadee Manitkul, ambassador attached to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand; Peng Fei, counsellor at the Chinese Embassy in Thailand; and Chuwit Sirivejkul, region director for East Asia marketing of the Tourism Authority of Thailand. Zhai Kun, deputy director of Peking University’s Institute of Area Studies and China Forum expert, was invited as a roundtable panelist. Eric Li, vice chairman of China Forum, and Han Hua, executive committee member of China Forum, served as moderators.
Among the panelists were Xu Erming, chairman of Siam Think Tank, Thailand; Qi Huaigao, vice dean of the Institute of International Studies, Fudan University; Rapipongs Banchong-Silpa, director of Division III, Department of East Asian Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand; Kin Chong Choi, senior vice president at KASIKORNBANK; Sukalin Wanakasemsan, director of global academic affairs, Chulalongkorn University; Chai Thanichanun, chairman of Thai-Beijing Chamber of Commerce; Zou Chunmeng, director of the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies, Yunnan University; and Burin Srisomthawin, dean of the Thai-Chinese International Management Institute, University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce. The panel discussed socio-economic development, entrepreneurship and innovation, environmental efforts, and digital governance in China and Thailand.
