Seminar on changes in China-US-Europe relations, directions of China’s business ties with Germany, Europe

On January 26, 2022, China Forum (CF) of the Center for International Security and Strategy at Tsinghua University, and the China Chamber of Commerce to the EU (CCCEU) co-hosted a seminar titled “Changes in China-US-Europe Relations and the Directions of China’s Business Relations with Germany and Europe,” convening about 40 business leaders and scholars from around the world for discussions on the interactions and developments of China-Germany, China-Europe and China-US-Europe ties amid the complex post-pandemic international landscape. At the event moderated by CF Executive Committee member HAN Hua, H.E. SHI Mingde, former Chinese Ambassador to Germany and Austria, delivered a keynote speech, with CCCEU Chairman XU Haifeng and CF Secretary General ZHANG Lirong opening and closing the meeting respectively.

In his keynote speech, Mr. Shi explained the development consensus and interaction of interests between China, the US and Europe, and the influencing factors, divergences, convergences, and prospects for China-Germany and China-Europe economic cooperation. High-level dialogues and cooperation mechanisms should be fully harnessed, especially on climate change, renewable energy, green development, and digital economy, he noted.

Participants included representatives from China Soft Capital, Huawei Belgium, BYD Europe, Hanhua Financial Holding, the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Germany, Trina Solar, the French branch of the Chinese Association for European Studies, VariFlight, China Three Gorges (Europe), COSCO Shipping (Europe), Xiaomi Nederland, Beijing Huiyu Import & Export Trade Co., etc.

Founded by Bank of China (Luxembourg) S.A., China Three Gorges (Europe) S.A. and COSCO Shipping (Europe) GmbH on August 31, 2018, the Brussels-based CCCEU represents up to 70 members and chambers in EU member states, covering about 1,000 Chinese enterprises.
