On June 9-10, the webinar: The Role of Political Parties in Modernizing Governance and Public Management was successfully held. The two-day event was jointly organized by the China Forum under Tsinghua University’s Center for International Security and Strategy and the Institute for Reform of State-Business Relations (IREE), featuring the participation of presidents of major political parties in Brazil, including the Workers’ Party (PT), the Communist Party of Brazil (PCdoB), the Brazilian Democratic Movement (MDB), the Democratic Labor Party (PDT), the Brazilian Social Democracy Party (PSDB), the Social Democratic Party (PSD), the Socialism and Liberty Party (PSOL), among others. The Chinese panelist included Professor LI Junru, former Vice President of the Party School of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC); Professor ZHANG Baijia, former Deputy Director of the Party History Research Center of the CPC Central Committee; Professor YU Hongjun, former Vice Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee; and Professor SUN Yanfeng, Deputy Director of the Institute of Latin American Studies under the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations. Mr. ZHANG Lirong, Secretary General of the China Forum, Dr. Walfrido Warde, President of IREE, and Mr. Marco Aurélio de Carvalho, Coordinator of Grupo Prerogativas also attended the event.

In the session titled “Deepening the China-Brazil Comprehensive Strategic Partnership: Engagement and Role of Political Parties” on June 10, the achievements made by the Chinese people under the leadership of the CPC were highly commended by presidents of major Brazilian political parties, including Gleisi Hoffmann, President of PT, Bruno Araújo, President of PSDB, Gilberto Kassab, President of PSD, and Juliano Medeiros, President of PSOL, who all expressed the willingness to advance dialogues with the CPC.

Explaining Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy and the CPC’s diplomatic principles, Professor Yu and Professor Sun stressed the significance of the China-Brazil comprehensive strategic partnership. The CPC will stay committed to striving for the happiness of the Chinese people and the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, and is ready to work with the rest of the world towards a multilateral, peaceful and just community with a shared future for humankind, Chinese Ambassador to Brazil YANG Wanming said.
