China Forum Experts Participate in Discussion on “Digital Belt and Road”

On 7-9 July, 2020, the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), a leading British think tank, held a virtual collaborative workshop on “China's Digital Expansion: The Digital Silk Road".

Eric Li, Vice Chairman of China Forum and Chairman of Guancha.cn, Huang Renwei, a China Forum expert and Executive Director of Fudan Institute for Belt and Road Global Governance, and Li Bo, BoardMember of China Forum and Deputy Director of Digital Belt & Road Center at China Institute of Fudan University, were invited to participate in the workshop. They presented Chinese views and research results on the definition of public goods provided by the Digital Silk Road, why countries along the "Belt and Road" chose China's digital infrastructure, the complementary roles of Chinese private enterprises and state-owned enterprises in “going global”, the reasonable boundaries of the research objects of the Digital Silk Road system, digital privacy protection and the emergence of “double standards” in the cross-border exchange of data, and other issues.
