Wang Jisi is a Boya Chair Professor at Peking University, the founding director of the Institute of International and Strategic Studies at Peking University, a professor at the School of International Studies at Peking University, and an academic committee member of the Center for Strategy and Security ,Tsinghua University. He also holds the honorary position of Honorary President of the China Association of American Studies.
From 1991 to 2005, he served as Deputy Director, Director, and Researcher at the Institute of American Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. From 2001 to 2009, he concurrently served as Director of the Institute of International Strategic Studies at the Party School of the CPC Central Committee. From 2005 to 2013, he was Dean and Professor of the School of International Studies at Peking University. From 2008 to 2016, he also served as a member of the Foreign Policy Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China.
He has been a visiting scholar or visiting professor at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom, the University of California, Berkeley, the University of Michigan, Claremont McKenna College, and Princeton University in the United States.
