The United States grossly interfered in China's internal affairs, supported the "Taiwan independence" forces and deliberately sabotaged peace across the Taiwan Straits, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Sunday, pointing out the three mistakes the U.S. had made by allowing U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi to visit China's Taiwan region.
It must be understood that Taiwan is not a part of the United States, but a part of Chinese territory, and the U.S. side has made a public commitment about this, said Wang, adding that the U.S. side's action is therefore a serious infringement on China's sovereignty.
The Chinese foreign minister said the U.S.'s acts also condone and support "Taiwan independence" forces. "Any country must safeguard national unity and will not allow secessionist forces to behave recklessly."
China aims at safeguarding China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, deterring U.S. attempts from "using Taiwan to contain China," shattering the DPP authority's illusion of "seeking U.S. support for their independence agenda," and maintaining peace in the Taiwan Straits and stability in the region, Wang said.
Wang said the principle of non-interference in internal affairs of a sovereign state is the "golden rule" of handling state-to-state relations, and the "magic tool" for developing countries to safeguard their sovereignty and security.

Pelosi's visit to Taiwan has drawn enough attention for herself, but such provocation has seriously undermined international law and the basic norms of international relations and escalated tensions between China and the US, endangering regional stability and world peace. "All consequences arising therefrom shall be borne by the US side and 'Taiwan independence' separatist forces," a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China declared on August 2.

"The visit ignores the fact that Taiwan is an integral part of the People’s Republic of China. I see that such a visit is provocative, implying evasion of the one-China principle and implying support for the separatist tendency of some Taiwanese," Egypt’s former ambassador to China Ali El-Hefny said. The former ambassador said that it will lead to more tension in China-U.S. relations. "The main purpose of such practices is to affect China’s rise that we have been witnessing over the past four decades and the progress made by China in certain fields, particularly high tech, artificial intelligence, space technology and other fields," he said. "The Taiwanese citizens are part of the Chinese people. Sooner or later, Taiwan will be reunited with the People’s Republic of China regardless of the attempts of others to equivocate about this principle," he concluded.
Raphael Tuju, executive director of Azimio la Umoja — One Kenya Coalition Party, said Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan is a despicable act of provocation against the friendly Chinese people, and the move is irresponsible, outrageous and reprehensible. In messages addressed to the International Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, the political parties also voiced firm support for China’s efforts to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity. The U.S. leader’s visit to Taiwan breached the one-China principle and aimed to disrupt China’s peaceful development process and maintain the U.S. hegemony, said Fred M’membe, president of the Socialist Party in Zambia, adding that peace-loving people of all countries must condemn such a move. Eritrea also published a press statement on Thursday condemning the visit. "At a time when the flaws and follies of its global policy have become more apparent, and in an attempt to ramp up its policy of containment of China, Washington has concocted the provocative visit of House Speaker Pelosi to Taiwan with all its perilous ramifications. The latest act is but a continuation of reckless policies that the US Administration has pursued in the past years in Asia to advance this singular objective," the statement read.
Cedric Thomas Frolick, National Assembly House Chairperson for South Africa said that Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan is a clear intrusion into Chinese domestic affairs. Frolick maintained that South Africa will continue, as it has stated in the past, to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the People’s Republic of China. South Africa will uphold the one-China principle and believes that there is only one China in the world. "In that respect, the government of China is in Beijing, and it is led by the Communist Party of China," he added. "The United States has a responsibility as one of the superpowers in the world to ensure that world peace is being maintained. And it is the responsibility of politicians to exercise the necessary restraint so that we do not have further flares ups of tension that can result in conflict," Frolick said.

African analysts have condemned last week's visit to Taiwan by top US lawmaker Nancy Pelosi, saying her actions were aimed at destabilizing the region and undermined efforts for global peace.
David Monyae, director of the Center for Africa-China Studies at the University of Johannesburg, said the visit by the speaker of the US House of Representatives has escalated tensions between the United States and China. It shows that the US is reneging on its promise to respect the one-China policy, he said.
"The visit is problematic as it is provocative and unnecessary," Monyae said. "It shows some hegemonic arrogance on the part of the US. It is meant to undermine the one-China principle, and China's territorial integrity and sovereignty."
Dennis Munene, the executive director of the China-Africa Center at the Africa Policy Institute, said the global community must condemn Pelosi's visit given the risk that it could usher in the return of Cold War geopolitics.
"Currently, the world is facing unprecedented challenges emanating from the socioeconomic impacts of COVID-19 and the Russia-Ukraine conflict. We don't need any other instability," he said. "Peace and development are inextricably linked and must be protected at all cost."
The scholar said Africans must speak with one voice and condemn the actions of those who want to destabilize the world. Africa recognizes that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory and any issue within the Taiwan Straits is purely an internal affair of China, Munene said.

三、一些亚洲国家认为中美两国关系的稳定对地区和平与稳定至关重要。
Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong "highlighted the importance of stable U.S.-China relations for regional peace and security" during talks with Pelosi, the city-state’s Foreign Ministry said. This was echoed by Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi in Tokyo, who said stable ties between the two rival powers "are extremely important for the international community as well."
The Philippines urged the U.S. and China to be "responsible actors" in the region. "It is important for the U.S. and China to ensure continuing communication to avoid any miscalculation and further escalation of tensions," said Foreign Affairs spokesperson Teresita Daza.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's "surprise" trip to Taiwan last week should be "Exhibit A" as to why interventionism is dangerous, deadly and dumb. Though she claimed her visit won some sort of victory for democracy over autocracy, the stopover achieved nothing of the sort. It was a pointless gesture that brought us closer to military conflict with zero benefits.
As Col. Douglas Macgregor said of Pelosi's trip on a recent episode of "Tucker Carlson Tonight," "Statesmanship involves advancing American interests at the least cost to the American people. None of that is in play here. ... Posturing is not statesmanship."
(August 10, 2022, NEWSMAX, Pelosi's Trip a Fool's Errand of Interventionism)
The U.S. fighting a proxy war with Russia through Ukraine and Nancy Pelosi provoking China nearly to the point of war over Taiwan is meant to show the world how tough we are. In reality, it demonstrates the opposite. The drunken man in a bar challenging everyone to a fight is not tough. He's foolish. He has nothing to gain and everything to lose from his display of bravado.
That is interventionism at its core: a foolish policy that provokes nothing but anger overseas, benefits no one in the U.S. except the special interests, and leaves the rest of us much poorer and worse off.
(August 10, 2022, NEWSMAX, Pelosi's Trip a Fool's Errand of Interventionism)
At a time of strategic suspicion and escalating tensions, Pelosi‘s visit does not seem to contribute to the stabilisation of an increasingly fraught US-China relationship, or advance American interests, or increase the security of the people of Taiwan, said Robert Daly, director of the Kissinger Institute on China and the United States at the Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington.
(August 2, 2022, The Guardian, Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan risks upsetting Beijing to no advantage)
Political analyst Eberhard Sandschneider (Germany) has rightly remarked: If you don't have a solution to a frozen conflict, then you should do everything to keep the conflict frozen. But Nancy Pelosi's visit has achieved the exact opposite.
Most observers do not expect a military escalation even though the scale of the Chinese military maneuvers exceeds anything seen before. But there is also the danger that the large-scale maneuvers could lead to an accident. Or to some tragic mistakewhich then could trigger a chain reaction. Then the visit - in the worst case - would stand at the beginning of a direct military confrontation between two world and nuclear powers: China and the United States.
