On February 25, 2022, the Ditchley Foundation held an international conference on “Techno-Democracy” in a combination of in-person and virtual formats. Eric Li, China Forum’s vice chairman, was invited as a speaker and panelist at one of the working groups for “Techno-Democracy in Practice in Asia”.

The 58th Munich Security Conference (MSC) was held in Munich from February 18 to 20, convening 30 heads of state and government, hundreds of ministerial officials, and leading personalities of international organizations onsite and virtually for discussions on global issues such as regional security, the COVID-19 pandemic, and climate change. Professor Fu Chengyu, former chairman of Sinopec and a China Forum expert, was invited by the BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt to speak at its Futurity Session titled “Sustaining Global Collaboration Towards Climate Neutrality.”

The 2021 Sino-Ivorian Investment and Partnership Days organized by the International Youth Congress of Africa and China (CONIJAC) took place in Abidjan, the economic capital of Côte d’Ivoire. Among the invited speakers were H.E. WAN Li, Chinese Ambassador to Côte d'Ivoire; Mr. Abdoulaye Ben MÉÏTÉ, President of the General and Institutional Affairs Commission of the National Assembly of Côte d'Ivoire; and Professor DING Yifan, China Forum Expert and former Deputy Director of the Institute of World Development at the Development Research Center of the State Council of China.

​The first dialogue of the China-Europe-America Net Zero Transition Platform took place on December 20, 2021, co-organized by the China-Europe-America Global Initiative and the Belgian-China Chamber of Commerce, with partners including China Forum (CF) of the Center for International Security and Strategy at Tsinghua University, the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies (ACCWS), the Paulson Institute, Intesa Sanpaolo, Emlyon Business School, and Innovation Centre Denmark.

On December 16, 2021, China Forum (CF) of the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS), Tsinghua University, held its year-end wrap-up meeting and seminar on international communication. The event convened more than thirty experts and scholars, with a group meeting face to face, including CF Founding Chairperson Mme. FU Ying and Vice Chairman Eric LI, connecting with others virtually.

​On December 9-10, 2021, the Institute for China-America Studies (ICAS) hosted its annual conference themed “Prospects for US-China Relations under the Biden Administration” with China Forum of the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) at Tsinghua University, The Carter Center, and the National Institute for South China Sea Studies.

On December 2, the China Public Diplomacy Association hosted an event entitled “A Dialogue on Democracy,” which was co-organized by China Forum of Tsinghua University’s Center for International Security and Strategy.

On November 18-19, Beijing time, the Ditchley Foundation held a closed-door international conference entitled “Making the future work for all workers,” a hybrid event combining both in-person and virtual formats. Among the invited panelists were Mr. ZHANG Lirong, Secretary General of China Forum, and Mr. GAO Jian, China Forum Expert and Director of the Center for British Studies at Shanghai International Studies University.

On November 19, the Seminar on International Cooperation in Artificial Intelligence in Shenzhen was hosted by China Forum with the Shenzhen Foundation for International Cooperation and Exchange (SFICE), Tsinghua University’s Institute for AI International Governance (I-AIIG), and Shenzhen Artificial Intelligence Industry Association (SAIIA).

On November 19, 2021, as part of the first World Innovative Cities Forum, the Roundtable on Artificial Intelligence and Global Governance was held by China Forum together with the Shenzhen Foundation for International Exchange and Cooperation, Tsinghua University’s Institute for AI International Governance (I-AIIG), and Shenzhen Artificial Intelligence Industry Association (SAIIA). The event convened an international panel for discussions on AI international cooperation and governance, with a view to facilitating deeper engagement of local industries in this cause.

A virtual seminar with the theme on “Effective Communication in International Conferences” was jointly organized by the Shenzhen Foundation for International Exchange and Cooperation, UNDP China, the China International Center for Economic and Technical Exchanges, and the College of International Development and Global Agriculture at China Agricultural University. Han Hua, member of the Executive Committee of the China Forum was invited to share her insights into how civil society organizations can achieve greater effectiveness in international communication through innovative approaches.

In light of the forthcoming UN Biodiversity Conference (COP15), the 2021 Erhai Forum on Global Ecological Civilization Construction was held in Dali, Yunnan Province, China on October 9. Themed “Building an Ecological Civilization Together for a Beautiful Planet,” the forum brought together more than 300 guests from across the globe.

On August 18, the “International Expert Dialogue on the Origins of COVID-19” was held online by the China Forum under the Center for International Security and Strategy at Tsinghua University and the Global Governance Institute, an independent think tank in China. Chinese and international public health scientists and epidemiologists discussed the challenges of investigating the origins of the virus and called for science in such investigative endeavors.

On June 25, 2021, the China Forum under Tsinghua University’s Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS-CF) formally announced its partnership with the Institute for Reform of State-Business Relations (IREE), an independent think tank based in Brazil committed to promoting understanding of the country’s national policies and advancing democratic and pluralistic debate to improve the interaction between the public and private sectors.

On June 9-10, the webinar: The Role of Political Parties in Modernizing Governance and Public Management was successfully held. The two-day event was jointly organized by the China Forum under Tsinghua University’s Center for International Security and Strategy and the Institute for Reform of State-Business Relations (IREE), featuring the participation of presidents of major political parties in Brazil, including the Workers’ Party (PT), the Communist Party of Brazil (PCdoB), the Brazilian Democratic Movement (MDB), the Democratic Labor Party (PDT), the Brazilian Social Democracy Party (PSDB), the Social Democratic Party (PSD), the Socialism and Liberty Party (PSOL), among others.

On June 9, the China Forum under Tsinghua University’s Center for International Security and Strategy and the Institute for Reform of State-Business Relations (IREE), based in Brazil, jointly organized the opening ceremony and the first session of the webinar: The Role of Political Parties in Modernizing Governance and Public Management, in which political party leaders and scholars from the two country exchanged views on the topic of “Modernizing State Governance: Practices and Experience of Political Parties.”

On May 20-21, 2021, a closed-door conference titled ‘China Today and Tomorrow’ was held by the China Forum under the Center for International Security and Strategy, Tsinghua University, in cooperation with the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies and the Ditchley Foundation. The event, which was an online/offline gathering of more than 100 participants, engaged different perspectives from politics, academia, media and business.

On April 28, 2021, Professor YU Hongjun, former Vice Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, former Chinese Ambassador to Uzbekistan and a China Forum Expert, gave a lecture themed “China and the World amid the Great Changes” to over 200 students at the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE), sharing his insights on the relationship between China and the rest of the world and the strategic choices of China’s neighbors in times of unprecedented changes as well as on how to identify and respond to such changes.

On April 26, 2021, the project “CPC History Lectures” was launched by the CPC Committee of the China International Chamber of Commerce for the Private Sector (CICCPS) in collaboration with ten national civil society organizations in China. Professor YU Hongjun, former Vice Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and a China Forum Expert, was the inaugural speaker of the lecture series, addressing a 150-strong audience on “The Evolution of the Landscape of World Political Parties and Foreign Relations of the Communist Party of China.” Mr. WANG Yanguo, Secretary of the CPC Committee of CICCPS, presided over the event.

​On April 26, 2021, Green Development & Cooperation: Global Joint Efforts and Pathways to Carbon Neutral was jointly held by the China Forum under Tsinghua University’s Center for International Security and Strategy, Hainan Green Finance Research Institute, and Central University of Finance and Economics, bringing together more than 10 heavyweights from academia and industry at home and abroad, including China Forum Secretary General Mr. ZHANG Lirong and Executive Committee Member Professor HAN Hua.

On April 25, 2021, the Green Development Forum and the Seminar on The Road to Carbon Neutrality (Domestic Sub-Forum) was held in Beijing by the China Forum under Tsinghua University’s Center for International Security and Strategy, Hainan Green Finance Research Institute, and Central University of Finance and Economics, bringing together over 50 heavyweights from government, academia and industry.
