CISS and SAISS Held Student-Scholar Workshop

In the afternoon of March 25, 2022, the Center for International Security and Strategy (CISS) of Tsinghua University held a student-scholar workshop, where CISS fellows Sun Chenghao and Song Bo were invited to discuss pressing global issues with members of the Tsinghua University Student Association of International and Strategic Studies (SAISS). The event was moderated by CISS Deputy Director Xiao Qian, with CISS Director Da Wei making concluding remarks.

Dr. Sun Chenghao presented a historical overview of China-US relations and analyzed the impact of the Russia-Ukraine crisis on China-US ties, while Dr. Song Bo shared his insights on the underlying causes and process of the formation of this crisis from a historical perspective.

Wrapping up the workshop, Professor Da Wei pointed out that there is a complex historical context behind each international hotspot issue, which requires a holistic research approach that takes into consideration both current and future impacts on regional and international landscapes. In summary, he encouraged the young audience to adopt a holistic and forward-looking approach to strategic studies on local and current matters.
