According to the panelists, the latest Indo-Pacific Strategy of the United States, compared with the previous ones, is marked by its broader coverage and a more explicit competitive posture towards China. The participants analyzed the changes in the US positioning and interactions with Indo-Pacific powers and regional mechanisms in terms of its relations with South Korea, India, Europe and ASEAN, and assessed the impact of its Indo-Pacific strategic dynamics on the regional situation and China’s surrounding strategic landscape from economic, security, and ideological perspectives.

The US will face constraints in rolling out its Indo-Pacific Strategy on the ground due to a lack of economic competitiveness in the region, limited political and financial resources to materialize the blueprint, and the hesitation and concerns of regional powers and allies regarding its presence, the discussants pointed out.

Before the seminar concluded, the panelists shared their views and suggestions on how to promote neighborhood diplomacy.
