Tan Yannan is a graduate student at the University of International Relations, majoring in international politics, with research interests in U.S. politics and diplomacy and Sino-US relations. She graduated from the Department of International Politics of the University of International Relations. During the undergraduate years she served as the vice president of the student union and the captain of the university's debate team. She took an internship at the International Cooperation Center of the National Development and Reform Commission, participating in bilateral events organized by China which are associated with Japan and Germany. As a researcher, she was also a part of many key research projects. Now she is a student assistant at the Center for International Security and Strategic of Tsinghua University.
