ZHAO Minghao

Dr. Minghao ZHAO is Professor & Deputy Director of Center for American Studies at Fudan University. His research focuses on Sino-US relations, China’s foreign policy, international strategy and technology-security nexus issues. He is author of Strategic Restraint: Is New-type Sino-US Relationship Possible and The Belt & Road Initiative and America’s Competitive Strategy towards China. His work has been published in numerous academic and policy journals. He is frequently consulted by Chinese government and the reports written by him have informed Chinese top leadership. His opinion pieces have been featured in People's Daily, New York Times, Project Syndicate among other media outlets. His views on international affairs have been quoted in Washington Post, Financial Times, Les Echos,  NHK, and other major outlets. He has participated in international research projects, such as Global Trends and China-US Relations, a project co-sponsored by the Atlantic Council and China Institute for International Studies. He has given keynote and invited lectures at international conferences including the World Peace Forum, the Plenary Meeting of the Trilateral Commission, the Atlantic Dialogue, the Stockholm China Forum, the Tbilisi Regional Development Forum and the Rhodes Forum. Prior to joining Fudan in 2019, he served as a senior fellow and deputy director for strategic studies at China Center for Contemporary World Studies, the in-house think tank of International Department of the CPC’s Central Committee. He received a Ph.D. in International Relations, a MA in Diplomatic History, and a BA in Art Studies from Peking University.
